UJA-Federation of New York has taken bold steps to revitalize the congregational educational system in the greater New York area.
Through special initiatives, UJA-Federation is literally reinventing the way students learn — and teachers teach — to inspire a new generation to embrace their Jewish traditions through congregational education.
The Challenge of Transforming Synagogue Schools
- There are 250 Jewish schools in the eight-county New York area, and approximately 40,000 Jewish school-age children.
In the last year, our collective impact helped provide:
- 5,700 children from the greater New York area with relevant and fun congregational education programs.
- A focus on 100 congregational schools serving approximately 18,000 children through our funding to the Jewish Education Project.
