Connecting Teens Across Communities

A new community outreach program inspired the Central Queens YM & YWHA to bring together teens from Forest Hills High School with students from the High School for Arts and Business in Corona, including many Latino teens.

The outreach project grew out of the Community Connections Committee of UJA-Federation’s Commission on the Jewish People, which helps beneficiary agencies develop greater understanding and cooperation with the neighborhoods and communities they serve.

Other beneficiary agencies in several boroughs are also reaching out to their neighborhoods with community projects for teens.

In addition, Community Connections offers a fellowship program that helps build the capacity for intergroup work in our network of agencies by training agency professionals in organizing the community, developing partnerships, and building coalitions. The first cohort of 23 fellows completed the program this spring.
