A diagnosis of an advanced illness can be devastating. If you're the patient, anxiety and pain can make it difficult to focus on the many choices you need to make. If you're a family member or close friend, stress or sorrow can impede your search for the caring services that your loved one may need.
Because no single organization provides all necessary services, UJA-Federation of New York has facilitated the formation of the Jewish Healing and Hospice Alliance. The Alliance provides simple, streamlined access to quality care — and to peace of mind — with an integrated network of knowledgeable and compassionate resources, including:
- Information and referral services
- Practical assistance and advocacy
- Jewish spiritual and pastoral guidance
- Individual, family, and group support
- Connections to hospice care
- Bereavement counseling

When you learn that you will be dealing with a serious illness, please call one of the Alliance's regional care centers:
You'll be matched with a professional care partner who will be your advocate and guide — helping you learn about care options, giving you the information you'll need to make decisions that are right for you. Your care partner will help you navigate the frustrating bureaucracy of the healthcare system, assist you in locating practical resources in your area, and find Jewish spiritual counseling and support for you.
You can count on your care partner's assistance as long as you need help. As the illness progresses, your care partner will be available to help you evaluate the best option for care at every stage — whether at home, in a long-term care facility, or in a hospice residence.
