The Westchester campaign director is responsible for the development and implementation of all fundraising strategies for the Westchester region. The campaign director is accountable for the realization of regional financial resources development goals; provides direction, focus, management, and supervision to staff; and works directly with senior lay leadership to develop a coherent planning strategy for the annual campaign.
The campaign director is responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of campaign staff and the recruitment, development, and cultivation of volunteers and lay leaders for the Westchester region.
Major Responsibilities
- Cultivates, solicits, and establishes ongoing relationships with Westchester County donors and prospects; reaches out to and engages prospects and new donors, enhancing their commitment to UJA-Federation.
- Works with FRD staff to create a feasible development plan that incorporates fundraising goals, prospecting strategies, new gifts, planned giving and endowments, and leadership cultivation; completes annual performance evaluations of FRD supervisees.
- Provides overall supervision to the Women's Philanthropy manager who is accountable to the campaign director for goal achievement; helps Women's Philanthropy to work collaboratively with the general campaign, communicate, exchange strategies, coordinate solicitations with couples and families, and maximize the potential of their FRD work teams.
- Meets regularly with annual campaign lay leadership to develop planning strategies, create appropriate goals, and monitor fundraising activity.
- Participates in senior management meetings in New York City, as scheduled.
- Through office manager, monitors and evaluates clerical and support functions, ensures smooth and efficient building and support operations, and establishes and implements procedures, as needed.
- Plans budget and monitors expenditures of Westchester events by overseeing, reviewing, and supervising financial management of individual cost centers.
- Works with top-level Westchester campaign leadership to recruit and train solicitors, identify and assign prospects, and implement successful solicitations.
- Along with staff, volunteer leaders, and committee chairs, plans meeting agendas, prepares presentations, frames issues for discussion by committees, and plans and implements effective fundraising efforts.
- Meets with regional Executive Committees to articulate the annual campaign strategy and goals and objectives to be achieved, as well as to report on the challenges and barriers to success.
Educational Background and Skills
- Minimum seven years of campaign experience.
- Minimum of three years in a management position.
- Good platform, writing, and planning skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, solicitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven track record in fundraising and community organization.
- Strong Jewish communal background experience.
