Managing Up for All Professionals

The ability to manage up brings understanding, cooperation, and collaborative problem solving to individuals who often have different perspectives. In this workshop, you will learn five key skill sets that will help you make you, your supervisor, and your organization look good — and feel good — about the work you’re doing.

Among other topics, this session will include:

  • Understanding what managing up means — and what it doesn't mean
  • Owning your piece of the pie
  • Taking charge without stepping on toes
  • Learning to speak your manager's language
  • Dertermining what your manager needs so you can get what you need
  • Creating a reserve of good will to draw on when you need it

Instructor
Deborah Grayson Riegel, MSW, head coach of My Jewish Coach, is a coach, trainer, and speaker who helps organizations and individuals achieve personal and professional success. Deborah provides workshops, presentations, and coaching for Fortune 500 companies, national and local government agencies, and Jewish organizations. Deborah was the director of education and training for United Jewish Communities’ Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence, where she developed innovative training programs and co-authored an interactive solicitation-training website. Deborah is on the faculty of the Wexner Heritage Program.
