Photo Gallery on the Jewish Response to Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy struck a heavy blow to many communities with large Jewish populations, flooding homes in Long Island and Brooklyn, and leaving residents without power in Westchester, the Bronx, Manhattan, and elsewhere. The community’s response has been powerful, mobilizing volunteer efforts, launching donation drives, and finding other ways to help rebuild from the rubble. Below are photos that show both the devastation the hurricane has caused and the work that Jewish organizations —including UJA-Federation’s network agencies and synagogues and their supporters — are doing to extend a helping hand.
