It’s Our Neighborhood
We're creating community for ourselves and our neighbors, from the western edge of Nassau County to the eastern fork of Suffolk, from the North Shore to the South. And we haven’t forgotten about our extended Jewish family in Israel and all corners of the globe. UJA-Federation of New York builds community — the kind of community where the values we know to be true, tzedakah and tikkum olam, determine our actions. Through more than 20 agencies on Long Island, we extend our heart and a hand to those who need us. Food pantries, child care, Jewish education, workshops for synagogue leaders, support for families of disabled children and adults, dignified care for our elderly — together, we can create the neighborhood we all want to live in. This community is built by and for you and me. Join us.
Connections: Strengthening the Jewish Identity of Families
Connections is a UJA-Federation program dedicated to providing young Jewish families with the resources to strengthen their Jewish connection and ensure the Jewish identity of their children. Family volunteer opportunities allow parents to transmit their values. Connections workshops and newsletters give practical advice on how to create a home filled with Jewish ideals and content. Please join us. For more information, contact Orna Sheena at 1.516.677.1832 or sheenao@ujafedny.org.
J Learn: Providing Adults With Jewish Learning
J Learn’s mission is to promote ongoing, high-quality short- and long-term learning opportunities to Long Island's adult Jewish population. J Learn crosses denominational lines, fostering natural connections between Jewish thought and experience. Jewish themes are placed within the framework of daily life, providing tools to view the world through a honed Jewish lens. J Learn is offered as a program through the Jewish Education Service of North America (JESNA) and funded through a grant from UJA-Federation of New York under the auspices of the Commission on Jewish Identity and Renewal (COJIR).
