Strengthening Day Schools
Research has shown that children who attend Jewish day schools or yeshivas are more likely to remain engaged in Jewish life and raise their own children steeped in Jewish traditions.
That’s why UJA-Federation of New York supports a range of initiatives designed to strengthen day schools and yeshivas, enhance the quality of educational leadership, and increase social services for students. Amid increasing assimilation, day schools and yeshivas are providing families across the religious spectrum with a vibrant educational experience.
The Challenge of Supporting Jewish Day Schools
- New York is home to the largest concentration of Jewish day schools, yeshivas, and Jewish children outside Israel.
- Our community includes 300 Jewish schools, with more than 100,000 students and 10,000 educators.
UJA-Federation’s Response
We provide essential support to leading Jewish education efforts through our beneficiary agencies and grantees.
Last year, our collective impact helped provide:
- 100,000 students in day schools and yeshivas with richer educational experiences.
- $1 million to support 200 Jewish day school and yeshiva students with awards toward the cost of their tuition through the Rose Biller Day School Scholarship Fund.
- Healthcare benefits for thousands of Jewish day school and yeshiva teachers, so that educators can afford to make teaching a viable career.

Your gift does so much for so many.
Every dollar you give counts for Jewish education.
- $1,000 can make a Jewish preschool affordable for a Lower Manhattan family.
- $16,000 can train an educator for a future leadership position in one of New York's Jewish day schools.
