Synagogues in Sync

UJA-Federation is working to strengthen synagogues as centers of caring, learning, and spiritual renewal.

More than 500 synagogues in the greater New York area provide a rich diversity of options for joining in communities of prayer, learning, and charitable deeds.

UJA-Federation of New York is proud to work alongside New York synagogues in many ways.

  • Enhancing synagogues: We help synagogues strengthen their Jewish studies programs, increase membership, expand their human-service efforts, develop leadership, and operate more efficiently.
  • Fulfilling community mandates: We provide a common ground and resources for synagogues to join with other Jewish institutions to bring aid to those affected by catastrophe, welcome those on the margins, and plan for the future of the community.
  • Raising communal funds for community purposes: We work with synagogues to enable congregants to contribute their tzedakah to fulfill the mission of the New York Jewish community.

UJA-Federation of New York strives to strengthen Jewish life today — and build for tomorrow. As vital centers of Jewish learning and spiritual renewal, synagogues are our essential partners in fulfilling these goals.
