Teen Philanthropic Leadership Council
Over the course of six Sunday evenings, the Teen Philanthropic Leadership Council is gathering to learn about philanthropy, the grant-making process, and our communal responsibility to the Jewish people.
Participants are raising funds, selecting organizations within UJA-Federation’s network of agencies to focus on, and allocating the thousands of dollars they raise collectively to those organizations.
Council members will…
- Work on a committee made up of Jewish teens.
- Learn how philanthropy and nonprofits make a difference in the world.
- Build relationships with change-makers and community leaders.
This commitment means…
- Attending all meetings and events.
- Making a personal philanthropic commitment of $180.
- Demonstrating an interest in social justice.
- Being responsible for allocating funds.
We give participants…
- Leadership skills and hands-on philanthropic experience.
- Community service credit.
- An exciting, fun, and memorable journey.
This year, the Teen Philanthropic Leadership Council has chosen to focus on vulnerable Jewish populations and will provide funding to projects and agencies that address this need. Vulnerable Jewish populations might include (but are not limited to): Holocaust survivors; Jewish teens in low-income communities; Jews with physical or mental health issues; Jews in Ethiopia or the former Soviet Union; Israeli Lone Soldiers; Israeli children living in absorption centers; and more.
This year, the Teen Philanthropic Leadership Council has a group fundraising goal of $45,000. To help our teens achieve this goal, please click on the name of any participant on the right.
