Thanksgiving Volunteer Projects

Each Thanksgiving, we have an opportunity to express gratitude for all of our blessings. This month, share your time and talents toward making Thanksgiving special for someone less fortunate. And, consider participating in a Hurricane Sandy volunteer project to help New Yorkers still struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Volunteers (Thanksgiving Party) (Great Group Opportunity)
Dates: Ongoing (Now through Friday, November 23, 2012) (One-time commitment, flexible date)
Location: Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services

Help the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services host a festive Thanksgiving event by decorating a JBFCS site. Volunteers will be asked to provide and serve a meal. It may be possible to cook on-site; contact Abigail Lerner for further details.

Volunteers (Thanksgiving Day Home Delivery)
Date: Thursday, November 22, 2012 (Morning)
Location: Bronx Jewish Community Council, 925 Waring Avenue, Bronx

The Bronx Jewish Community Council is seeking volunteers to deliver catered kosher meals to the homebound elderly on Thanksgiving morning. Volunteers need to be available for one to two hours. This project offers a great opportunity for individuals and families.

The Samuel Field Y needs volunteers to help organize its Thanksgiving celebration. Tasks include setting up, distributing food and drinks, interacting with adults with disabilities, and cleaning up after the event.
