Greening Seminar: Prepping for Earth Day 2011 . . . NOW
For professionals and lay leaders engaged in greening initiatives in their health and human-service agency, school, synagogue, Hillel, Jewish community center, or other Jewish community organization.
Have you created an Earth Day program, or are you thinking about initiating one next year? It's not too early to plan how your organization is going to engage parents, kids, employees, and neighbors in education, advocacy, and hands-on projects. Although Earth Day is officially recognized on April 22nd, organizations have celebrated the day anytime in the spring. And this year, Earth Day falls close to Passover, offering the possibility of linking it with themes of cleansing, renewal, and freedom.
At this seminar, you’ll hear from colleagues who have created and marketed highly successful green fairs. You'll also have the opportunity to share programming and service ideas with peers and representatives from organizations that provide free or low-cost resources to help your program succeed.
Presenters include Marti Michael, executive director of Riverdale YM-YWHA; Gregory Poole-Dayan, assistant administrator for resident and clinical services at Jewish Home Lifecare's Sarah Neuman Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation; and JR Rich, assistant communications director at the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island. The program will be moderated by Rachel Jacoby Rosenfield, director of the Jewish Greening Fellowship at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center.
