Now, the esteemed journalist joins us for UJA’s upcoming Sanford Solender Lecture held in partnership with The Ramaz School and Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun. Bret will be in the conversation with moderator Abigail Pogrebin.

Don’t miss this timely talk where Bret will share his thoughts on the war in Israel, the future of the Jewish state, and rising antisemitism around the world. You’ll also hear about UJA’s work in response to these major challenges and how we’re securing Jewish institutions, empowering college students to stand up to hate, and promoting pro-Israel and pro-Jewish voices in traditional and social media.

The Sanford Solender Lecture Series was established to explore major issues of concern to the Jewish community and to honor a man who served that community for more than 50 years.

From 1948 to 1970, Mr. Solender left an indelible mark on our community as an executive with the National Jewish Welfare Board, serving as director of the Jewish Center Division before becoming executive vice president in 1960. In 1981, Mr. Solender retired after 11 years as executive vice president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies and UJA-Federation of New York. When Mr. Solender retired, his colleagues and friends established the Sanford Solender Lecture Series to honor his remarkable accomplishments. Until his death on August 30, 2003, Mr. Solender took an active role in determining the focus of these lectures. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
