Gary Podell is a successful lawyer, real estate developer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose commitment to giving back was inspired by his father’s example. As Gary recalls, “My father always said, ‘The more you give, the more you will get,’ so I’ve always tried to give as much as I could — sometimes even beyond what felt comfortable.”

Gary began his career as an attorney specializing in real estate tax and appraisal litigation before founding Vintage Real Estate Organization in the mid-90s, which grew into Vintage Group, LLC. Thereafter, as a principal in Vintage and other real estate ventures, he led the acquisition and redevelopment of thousands of residential units and other mixed-use projects across the greater New York area and throughout the United States.

In addition to his work in real estate, Gary has been a cofounder and partner in multiple joint ventures focused on venture capital, private equity, and litigation finance.

Gary is also dedicated to philanthropy and has supported many organizations over the years in addition to UJA-Federation, including The Greater NY Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Sunrise Day Camp, Highpoint University, Tulane University, Northwell Health, Lenox Hill Hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical Center, Children’s Medical Fund of New York, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), AIPAC, and Birthright Israel Foundation.

Gary also brought this spirit of giving to Hofstra Law, establishing a scholarship in his father’s name five years ago. Most recently, he pledged $1 million to create the Bertram L. Podell Endowed Distinguished Professorship in International Law at Hofstra Law.

Gary resides in Roslyn with his wife, Rachel, and their four children.
