Dr. Mijal Bitton

Rosh Kehilla of the Downtown Minyan

Dr. Mijal Bitton is a spiritual leader, public intellectual and sociologist of American Jews. She is the Rosh Kehilla of the Downtown Minyan community in New York City and a Visiting Researcher at NYU Wagner. Mijal earned her doctorate from New York University where she is now directing the first national study of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews in the United States. She is an alumna of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and was selected in 2018 for inclusion in “36 under 36” in the New York Jewish Week as a “Public Intellectual (with) Public Values”.
