Laura B. Greenfield is an executive vice president and market manager of the New York/New Jersey commercial real estate lending group at People’s United Bank (PUB). Laura is responsible for all loan originations and asset management for her 25-member department. She and her team focus on relationship-based balance sheet commercial real estate lending, including construction, transitional and permanent loans across all asset classes. PUB is a large regional bank headquartered in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and holds approximately $55 billion in assets.
Prior to joining PUB in 2016, Laura was a vice president and team leader in the New York City commercial real estate lending group at M&T Bank. Laura started her career at M&T in its Management Development Training Program and later completed M&T’s commercial credit training program. Laura graduated with a BBA from The George Washington University, with Beta Gamma Sigma honors.
Laura has supported UJA-Federation of New York since 2006 and became even more active in 2009, when she first became involved with REX. Laura helped organize several REX events over the years and chaired the REX Gala in 2017. She went on to become REX vice chair and, most recently, the chair of REX in 2018-2019. Laura currently serves on the UJA Board of Directors and the Health and Wellness grant allocation committee. She was drawn to UJA’s mission and identifies with its values of helping people in need and strengthening the Jewish community and Jewish future. She believes that while each individual can make a difference, there’s greater impact in joining with others, and she enjoys collaborating with other real estate professionals to effect positive change.
Laura comes from a family that cherishes philanthropic commitment and Jewish values. Laura’s grandmother was a volunteer in the early 1950s selling Israel Bonds. Her grandfather was one of a few members of a tiny synagogue who, for years, kept it financially afloat because of his sense of responsibility to help the community. Laura’s parents met through their activities with the Jewish United Fund of Chicago. They both served on the board of the Young People’s Division in the 1970s, with her father serving as president, and both later served on other JUF Boards. Laura’s mother was, until recently, a volunteer for over 17 years in the food pantry of the ARK, a Jewish social service agency.
Laura and her husband, Scott, are proud parents of two children.
