Our Communities
Need Protection.

AND YOU CAN HELP THEM GET IT.

Every New Yorker should be able to walk into a synagogue or other religious space without fear. Yet as antisemitism rises and threats against Jewish communities grow more visible, too many people encounter harassment, intimidation, or obstruction simply for trying to pray or gather with community.

The Protecting Access Without Threat of Interference Bill creates commonsense rules to help keep these spaces safe. It makes it illegal to threaten or block someone from entering a religious building, and it requires demonstrators to keep at least 25 feet from entrances to these buildings so people can come and go freely. Repeat offenders will also face harsher consequences if they violate these protections.

At its core, this legislation is about ensuring that the Jewish community and all New Yorkers can practice their faith without facing hostility or danger, and that our community’s sacred places remain open, welcoming, and protected.
