UJA-Federation Presents
10 Days of Awesome

There’s no better time of year than the Days of Awe for Jews to reflect upon the change we want to see in ourselves and the world.

UJA’s 10 Days of Awesome gives New Yorkers an opportunity to show up, commit, and take action in three simple, meaningful ways: to do good in our community by volunteering, to give warm winter coats to New Yorkers in need, and to share a vision for the year ahead. Join us for 10 Days of Awesome to create positive change in the new year.

During this period of new beginnings, UJA invited the community to start off the new year by giving back through our volunteer platform, Time for Good, at the Days of Awesome Service Day.

On Sunday, September 24, we held a variety of service projects all across the city. With the help of so many volunteers, we planted an urban a garden in Bushwick, beautified a school in Brownsville, and organized an art project with children in Riverdale, and more. To all those who participated, thank you for being awesome!

There are plenty more opportunities to improve our community at timeforgood.org. Join together to make a meaningful difference throughout the year.

There are dozens of ways to make time for good. Find yours.

As we approach the new year, we recognize the needs of those less fortunate in our community – and with winter just a few months away, a warm coat can make a huge difference for hundreds of New Yorkers living in poverty.

Most clothing drives don’t start until the temperature drops – when coats are already needed. Research shows that the best time for people to give a coat is before the winter, so the people who need them can be prepared for the harsh weather.*

UJA-Federation, in collaboration with New York Cares, has convened JCCs, synagogues, and day schools across New York for a city-wide coat drive during the 10 Days of Awe, ending on September 30.

Start the new year by doing something awesome. Give a coat at one of our participating JCCs, which can be found in the dropdown menu below.

During this time of reflection, we want to know what the high holidays mean to you. What do you want for the year 5778, and how will you go about making it happen?

Visit jewish.nyc to tell your story and read how the 10 Days of Awe inspire Jews throughout our city. Share your favorite High Holiday memory, your intention for the new year, or something that makes these 10 days special for you.

You can also post your thoughts on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #10daysofawesome to join the conversation – and be sure to tag @ujafedny.

It’s your story. Tell the world.
