Westchester Community and Volunteer Services and the Harold & Elaine Shames JCC on the Hudson invite you to join us for a day of volunteering with your family.
Meet therapy dog Fozzie and his handler Stefani Cohen, a social worker at Westchester Jewish Community Services, a UJA-Federation beneficiary agency, who will teach us how service dogs and other animals help heal. We will also learn how social workers and animals at a therapy petting zoo in Israel bring comfort to victims of trauma.
In honor of September 11th, we will write letters and draw pictures for the dedicated staff at the UJA-Federation-founded Israel Trauma Coalition, where more than 40 organizations help individuals and communities coping with unrelenting violence. We’ll also make crafts to express our commitment to caring for our furry friends and enjoy other activities.
Please bring new and gently used towels and linens, dog and cat food, metallic food bowls, and cat litter to the event to be donated to local animal shelters.
