Connected Congregations: Practicing Agility

Webinar series presented with Lisa Colton of Connected Congregations: A UJA-Federation of New York Initiative with Darim Online

A connected congregation is one that deeply understands the meaning of community, and works explicitly to build a strong, meaningful, and engaged Jewish community. Connected congregations prioritize relationships and shared values, and align all aspects of institutional management in service of the community. Those within connected congregations feel a sense of shared ownership and responsibility for each other and the collective, and are empowered to contribute their ideas, energy, and resources.

This exciting webinar series draws lessons from six synagogues participating in the second year of Connected Congregations, a UJA-Federation of New York initiative with Darim Online. Join these pioneering congregations as they investigate and report on what it means to embody the vision and principles of a connected congregation, looking through the lenses of transparency, leadership, and agility.

When we think of agility, the image of an athlete comes to mind—but a synagogue? For organizations, agility involves being able to change direction efficiently and effectively as we experience changes in communal priorities, economic realities, or demographic shifts. Agile business development is becoming commonplace in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors as leaders recognize the need to make small adjustments more often to organizational life, as an ongoing practice. In this webinar, we will explore what it means to be an agile congregation, including how to evaluate your work and integrate feedback on an ongoing basis, and how to build synagogue systems that promote agility.
