Howard Milstein leads a family that has been prominent in business and philanthropy for three generations. Known as one of New York’s great real estate families, the Milsteins have been a major force in the development of New York City, the region, and beyond. A leading figure in local, national, and global affairs, Howard is a trusted advisor on economic, civic, and philanthropic matters. His ability to marshal business, government, philanthropic, and family resources drives a breadth of initiatives across health, civic, educational and security matters.
This was demonstrated in his Chairmanship of the New York State Thruway Authority, to which he was nominated by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2011 and unanimously confirmed by the New York State Senate. At NYSTA, he brought to bear a lifetime of private-sector experience in construction and large-scale development, initiating and leading a design-build process that saved New York nearly $2 billion from the original cost estimates for rebuilding the Tappan Zee Bridge. He served as Chairman through 2014 and was recognized for his achievements with the Regional Plan Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
Howard is currently Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of New York Private Bank & Trust and its operating bank, Emigrant Bank (the country’s largest privately owned and operated bank.) He chairs and operates all the Milstein family’s real estate companies. Howard is also founding Chairman of the merchant bank, FriedbergMilstein, and is an owner and builder of innovative businesses in financial services, technology, sports and entertainment, and consumer goods.
Michael M. Milstein is co-founder and executive chairman of Company, as well as co-founder and executive chairman of Grand Central Tech. He is a partner at Milstein Properties, and a partner at New York Private Bank & Trust and its operating bank, Emigrant Savings Bank. He is also the founder and managing partner of Circle Ventures, the technology-focused venture arm of the Milstein Companies. Michael graduated from Cornell University cum laude with a degree from the College Scholar Program where he focused on the causational relationship between economic upheavals and fundamental societal shifts. He also earned a minor in the Classics.
Adam Rosenberg is a founding partner of Akire Properties, a real estate investment and management firm focused on value add opportunities. Existing holdings span diverse asset classes throughout the country with a concentration in the New York metro area. Adam is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Akire Properties’ strategy and operations. With over 15 years of Real Estate experience, he brings a diverse skill set to all projects.
Prior to his current role, Adam held multiple positions within The Durst Organization, including overseeing expansion into Philadelphia market, managing departmental operations and resident engagement of the company’s 2,500-unit portfolio, supervising the Affordable/Moderate Income portfolio, and serving as project manager for 1212 Fifth Avenue, a 54 unit gut rehab, luxury condominium conversion, guiding the project through the design, construction, marketing, sales, and operations phases.
In addition, Adam served as the Director for the Office of the President of New York Water Taxi, helping to lead business development, technology, and operational efficiencies of one of the nation’s premier recreational, tourism, and transportation ferry services.
Adam is a graduate of Wesleyan University. He is a non-profit board member of Cycle Connect and Vice Chair of UJA Federation’s New York Real Estate Executives Division.
