2024 #MATZAHCHALLENGE FOR ISRAEL
April 17th, 2024

NEW YORK (April 17, 2024) – Chefs, influencers, and Jewish New Yorkers are gearing up for the return of UJA-Federation community favorite #MatzahChallenge this Passover, which runs from April 22 to 30. Throughout Passover, for each post that uses the hashtag #MatzahChallenge, a generous donor will contribute $18 to UJA’s annual campaign.

Also, available at no charge, UJA Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Menachem Creditor and Dr. Ora Horn Prouser, CEO and academic dean, Academy for Jewish Religion, issued Seder Interrupted: A Post-October 7 Haggadah Supplement that features timely additions for the Haggadah from over two dozen contributors in recognition of October 7 and rising antisemitism.

“This year, more than ever before, participating in the Matzah Challenge is the ultimate expression of Jewish pride, support for Israel, and connection among community members around Passover,” said Eric. S. Goldstein, CEO, UJA-Federation of New York. “We are also deeply proud of the Haggadah Supplement from Rabbi Creditor and Dr. Horn, who have given the entire community a powerful and accessible resource to weave current events into a seder.”

Here’s how to participate in the #MatzahChallenge:
Create: Create a matzah delicacy (e.g. avocado matzah toast or matzah brittle)
Snap: Take a photo or a video of your matzah creation
Post: Use the hashtag #MatzahChallenge and upload a photo of your matzah to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or Twitter between April 22 and April 30
Nominate: Tag a friend to participate in the challenge

Now in its seventh year, the #MatzahChallenge attracts influencers like Chef Einat Admony, Andrew Zimmern, Noa Tishby, Eitan Bernath, Jake Cohen, Lizzy Savetsky, Mike Solomonov, and Michael Twitty. Details about the #MatzahChallenge can be found at www.ujafedny.org/matzah-challenge. Finally, the code #MatzahChallenge unlocks 20% off special Passover-themed merchandise, including a matzah-themed apron, oven mitt, and mug at the UJA Swag Shop.
