Join UJA Interboro Women for the latest installment of ArtMatters, where we’ll lunch, learn, and take a closer look at Renoir’s Pink and Blue.
First, art educator Candice Koerner will lead our exploration of the piece, which depicts Alice and Elisabeth Cahen d’Anvers, daughters of a wealthy French Jewish banker. Then, Rabbi Menachem Creditor, UJA’s Pearl and Ira Meyer scholar-in-residence, will explore how the promise of French Jewish emancipation required the surrender of collective identity, and how the Dreyfus Affair and Elisabeth’s murder revealed the fragility of that bargain.
You’ll also hear more about UJA’s vital work in Israel, New York, and around the world, including how we’re helping those in need and strengthening Jewish life.
