UJA-FEDERATION OF NEW YORK’S SHOFAR ACROSS BROOKLYN OFFERS OVER 20 LOCATIONS TO HEAR THE SHOFAR ON ROSH HASHANAH
September 7th, 2023

Sept. 7, 2023 (New York, NY) – For the fourth year in a row, UJA-Federation of New York is bringing the sounds of the shofar to Brooklyn. “Shofar Across Brooklyn” features 25 outdoor locations across Brooklyn where synagogues and local organizations will sound the shofar on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the shofar services, some of the participating synagogues and organizations will also hold a tashlich program to symbolically throw away one’s sins to start the new year.

“Shofar Across Brooklyn has been a tremendous success, and we are thrilled to keep adding more sites and welcoming more people to the events,” said Rebecca Saidlower, UJA’s executive director of community mobilizers. “We appreciate all our community partners who help us create this fun and engaging holiday tradition that everyone can enjoy.”

For those seeking to celebrate the High Holidays with services, UJA’s Find A Service guide lists over 90 synagogues of all denominations offering in-person and virtual services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in the five boroughs and Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties.
