Our legal name is United Jewish Appeal-Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, Inc. This name reflects the 1986 merger of two separate organizations, the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, which was globally focused, and the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York City, which was concerned with local issues.
