300-plus people expected on the William Rosenwald Mission, April 29-May 5
April 4th, 2017

NEW YORK, April 4, 2017 – One of UJA-Federation of New York’s biggest Israel missions in its history next month will mark a century of Jewish community building by the pioneering organization and the Jewish state’s independence. More than 300 people from the greater New York area will experience Israel April 29-May 5 on the William Rosenwald Mission to Israel (http://uja100trip.org).

The mission will feature 10 different tracks tailored to a range of interests, including arts, culture, food and wine; adventure, biking and hiking; government relations; Baby Boomers, healthcare, technology and investing; Jewish learning; photography, and more.

Participants will be able to choose from a wide array of singular experiences on the tracks, like visiting historical and holy sites including the Western Wall, Old City and Masada; visit leading Israeli high-tech hot spots like the Weizmann Institute of Science, Google Israel and Teva Pharmaceuticals; and get briefings at military bases and key border areas like Sderot and the Golan Heights.

Israel’s Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) will coincide with the mission, allowing participants to join special events around Israel’s 69th anniversary. Other highlights will include a visit to Beth Hatfutsot (the Museum of the Jewish People) and the new Jerusalem Arts Campus, which is a special UJA-Federation of New York Centennial project.

“There’s no better way to celebrate UJA-Federation’s century of Jewish community building and Israel’s 69th anniversary of independence than with this incredible, inspiring mission,” said UJA-Federation of New York CEO Eric S. Goldstein. “Whether hiking in the footsteps of our forefathers, or gaining insights from Israel’s high-tech entrepreneurs, participants will experience their Jewish homeland in powerfully new ways and come away with memories that will last a lifetime.”

UJA Federation of New York was founded in 1917, when Jews across the New York area pioneered the idea of bringing a network of different charitable agencies and institutions under one federated system – and has provided many billions of dollars to support the State of Israel since its inception.
