UJA Home Volunteer Site

We believe no one should ever have to choose between a home and a meal.

Our support helps people get back on their feet, regain their dignity, and build economic stability for themselves and their families.

The Facts:

  • 565,000 New Yorkers who live in Jewish households are struggling to make ends meet.
  • 180,000 children in Jewish households in New York are poor or near-poor.
  • 1 in 5 Israelis live in poverty.
  • 850,000 children in Israel live in poverty.

Our Impact:

  • 271,000 low-income New Yorkers receive basic staples to fight hunger.
  • 65,000 New Yorkers receive free legal help to stave off eviction and protect themselves from domestic violence.
  • 19,600 Jewish children in the former Soviet Union get food, clothing, and other vital services to help them survive.
  • 5,000 people receive temporary shelter and financial assistance.
  • $16 million was secured — a 25% increase in funding — to support growing demand for services at NYC’s 450 food pantries and soup kitchens, thanks to our lobbying efforts.

With thanks to our network of nonprofits.
