Israel Needs Us. New York Does, Too.
Your support is essential on every front. Together we can make a difference.
Hear from our guest speaker, Hindy Poupko, UJA senior vice president, community planning and external relations. She will discuss UJA’s current role in Israel and our response to surging antisemitism here at home.
SUPPORTING ISRAEL:
- We’re providing extensive mental health support to meet unprecedented needs. We are particularly focused on evacuees, survivors of the Nova music festival, residents of affected Kibbutzim, injured soldiers and their families, and Holocaust survivors who have been re-traumatized.
- We’re providing enriching and engaging educational programming for youth who have been displaced from their communities and are struggling with their new reality.
- We’re supporting small business loans, investments in agricultural infrastructure, and other interventions to help Israelis weather the economic impact of the war.
- We’re addressing the mental and emotional well-being of families of hostages and offering direct financial support when necessary during this impossibly difficult time.
- We’re supporting mental health programs, resilience training, and reintegration services for recently released soldiers and reservists from elite units.
RESPONDING TO NEEDS HERE AT HOME:
- We’ve significantly increased our support to 11 local Hillels (serving over 20 campuses) and other nonprofit partners to combat antisemitism on campus, confront intimidation, strengthen Jewish programming, support mental health and well-being, increase the capacity of the Israel Campus Coalition, support campus organizers, and provide legal counsel for students and faculty facing harassment.
- We allocated an additional $4.5 million to our Community Security Initiative. They’ve increased patrols and the number of security guards, made physical security upgrades, and are monitoring online threats.
- We’re responding to antisemitism in K-12 public schools through teacher training, professional development, and consultation.
- We’re providing opportunities for more robust, pro-active Israel education with current and future political leadership, including taking them on missions to Israel so they can experience the country firsthand.
- We’re continuing our longstanding work for caring for those in need of food, employment, mental health services, and the warm embrace of the Jewish Community.
